We’re excited to highlight our latest commercial project with Heritage Housing, Inc. This beautifully restored historic brick building on Main Street in Norwich is now home to 17 thoughtfully designed apartments.
Ben Hogan, Project Manager, led Viking’s contribution to this unique renovation, bringing modern convenience to a space with deep roots. Originally constructed in 1850, the Reid & Hughes building is an important piece of Norwich’s architectural history. The renovation preserved key design elements that give the space its timeless charm, like fluted columns, operable pivot windows and soaring ceilings.
Inside the apartments, Viking selected CNC Luxor White cabinetry for the kitchens and Luxor Misty Grey for the baths. Kitchen surfaces are topped with durable Macabo Gray™ MSI Q™ Quartz, while the bathrooms feature easy-care CNC cultured marble countertops. Richelieu matte black hardware finishes the overall look with a contemporary touch.
The story is what makes this project extra special. In the early 1900s, the building was a bustling hub of retail activity, including a high-end clothing store in the 1930s. Thanks to this renovation, it continues to be a vital part of the community – now providing beautiful, modern homes while preserving a piece of Norwich’s past.
We’re proud to have played a role in a project that not only enhances downtown living but honors the history that shaped it.
